Larson has Top 10 Finish in Hoosier Elite Series
6/12/2010
Following a disappointing finish at Orlando Speedworld in the Orange Blossom 100, the next night, the Reno Power/Eternal Hot Water Heaters/Thunder Bay Motors crew pulled out their back up car to run the next leg of the Hoosier Elite Series at Desoto Super Speedway. With the approaching race on their minds, the crew and driver were hard at work early the next morning to get the crate late model in shape for the 75 lap event.
After practicing and changing a few things on the car, Justin Larson drove the #88 machine to a 6th place qualifying start and with the wave of the green flag, advanced through the field. Larson held onto his spot for the race, but started noticing a strange feeling coming through the steering wheel early into the race. As Larson kept a hold of the hard to handle machine, the checkered flag came down on a 6th place finish for the Reno Power/Eternal Hot Water Heaters/Thunder Bay Motors team. The driver and crew pulled the car into the pits, and upon inspection, noticed that the right rear shock had come off during the race, which caused the ill handling of the car. “I defiantly knew something wasn't right,” states Larson after the race, “But I couldn't exactly define what it was. The shock problem was enough to keep us from charging through the field like I wanted to do, but these are problems that happen and we at least kept it from the wall and placed it in the top 10.” Larson and crew are holding their heads up high and looking forward to the next race and hope for a win. The #88 team heads to New Symrna Speedway on July 1st for the Clyde Hart Memorial Race.
